Samara Lezama joins Zest Bistro as our newly appointed Chef de Cuisine, taking over the reins from founding Chef Stefan Corbie who has migrated to Switzerland to further his culinary career.
Having graduated from The Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality Institute with an Associate of Science Degree in Culinary Management Samara’s diverse culinary skills are attributed to her international training having gained experience in various Michelin Star Restaurants in the United States and Europe, including San Francisco, New York, The Basque Country, and Munich.
This International exposure tested and honed her skills, challenging her to expand her capabilities and left her feeling confident and reassured that one day she would run her own kitchen.
Travel has also been a major part of Samara’s personal development having carried out voluntary humanitarian work in the United States, Peru, and Poland. She believes travelling and gaining worldly experiences is so important for aspiring Chefs. “It has the potential to inspire you as you explore a new realm of cuisine while collaborating with other professionals.”
Despite opportunities to continue her career overseas, Samara returned to Trinidad to create her own private dining company. With this successfully established she has now decided to start a new chapter in her career by taking on the challenge of Chef de Cuisine, Zest Bistro.
